The Campaign

Utah is the second driest state in the nation. It doesn’t always appear that way, but most of Utah is a desert.

Slow the Flow. Save H2O. is a media campaign funded by the Governor’s Water Conservation Team (GWCT)—which consists of five of Utah's largest water conservation districts and the Utah Division of Water Conservation. The campaign is aimed at changing Utahns’ water usage behaviors, and to raise awareness and teach the necessary skills to help conserve water in Utah. 

 

Television Spots

Plants Don't Waste Water

  1. Use a broom instead of a hose
  2. Install a separate drip irrigation system for trees, shrubs and flowers
  3. Place a shut-off nozzle on the end of your hose
  4. Cover bare soil with a thick layer of mulch

Mother Nature

  1. Use a broom instead of a hose

Changeable

  1. Don't water during the heat of the day
  2. Adjust your sprinklers to avoid watering sidewalks and driveways
  3. Raise your mower blade one notch. It promotes a healthy root system
  4. Adjust your watering schedule to the season

Astroturf

  1. Look for the water-wise tag when you buy plants
  2. Call for a free water check and get your customized watering schedule
  3. Group plants with similar water needs together
  4. Start with a small area and make it water-wise

Little Brown Spot

  1. Only water when your lawn needs it
  2. Turn off your sprinkler system when it’s rainy or windy
  3. Water deeper and less often to promote a healthy root system
  4. Water brown spots by hand
